Saluting John Larkin – Program Manager

John’s extensive journey in the Marine Corps, spanning from 1974 to 1994, serves as a testament to his deep-rooted patriotism and the impactful family history that has intricately shaped his distinguished career. We are pleased to have him on our team, where his wealth of experience and commitment to service contribute to our shared success.

The influence of World War II veterans in his family, combined with the inspiration drawn from World War II movies, solidified John Larkin’s determination to serve. By the 8th grade, John had already set his sights on becoming a Marine, driven by a passion for infantry and a desire to lead.

As an infantry officer, John Larkin underwent a comprehensive training regimen, encompassing basic training, jump school, ranger school, general warfare school, cold weather training, nuclear/biowarfare training, and marksmanship. However, the true essence of his military experience lay not merely in the technical training but in the development of his command skills and personal attributes.

Over his 20-year military career, John ascended through the ranks, spending 15 years in leadership positions and commanding at various levels. Deployed to diverse locations such as Southwest Asia, Japan, Korea, and Diego Garcia, he navigated both challenging and rewarding aspects of command, showcasing unwavering leadership whether overseeing Marine barracks or heading Marine Corps security forces at the Pentagon.

The pinnacle of John’s service was marked by personal connections. Meeting his wife and working alongside fellow Marines created enduring bonds and a genuine sense of camaraderie, especially among younger servicemen.

Transitioning to civilian life posed unique challenges for John, primarily due to the uncertainty surrounding his post-service career. Armed with over ten years’ experience on Battalion, Division, and General staff positions; MBA, and a background in computer management, he returned to the defense industry.

The teamwork skills finely tuned in the military emerged as essential in civilian settings, emphasizing the constant readiness to perform and meet goals, recognizing the potential impact on everyone in the surrounding environment.

Reflecting on his military experience, John acknowledges the resilience instilled by adversity and the importance of mission readiness. These lessons, forged through camaraderie, challenges, and shared endeavors, hold a special place in his heart.

John’s military service remains a source of pride, shaping his perspective on success and perpetuating his pursuit of improvement in both personal and professional spheres.
